The AK Interactive 3rd Generation Flesh and Skin Colors Set (AK11621) is different — it is a structured system. The five flesh tones are arranged in a deliberate dark-to-light sequence: Dark Shadow Flesh for the deepest recesses under the chin and inside the eye sockets, Shadow Flesh for the broader shadow planes along the jaw and temples, Base Flesh as the midtone that covers the majority of the skin surface, Light Flesh for the first pass of highlights on the forehead and cheekbones, and Highlight Flesh for the final bright points on the tip of the nose, brow ridge, and knuckles.

The sixth color, Reddish Black (Cheekbone Glaze), is what separates this set from a generic skin palette. Applied as a thin, transparent glaze over the cured flesh tones, it adds the warm reddish undertone that real skin shows on the cheeks, ears, and bridge of the nose — the areas where capillaries sit close to the surface. Shake each bottle thoroughly before use. Apply Base Flesh as your midtone over a light primer — this establishes the overall skin color. While still working from Base Flesh on your palette, mix in Shadow Flesh and apply to the areas that sit in shadow: under the brow, along the sides of the nose, beneath the lower lip, and under the jawline. For the deepest recesses — inside the eye sockets, behind the ears, under the chin — switch to Dark Shadow Flesh. Reverse the process for highlights: mix Light Flesh into your midtone and apply to the raised planes, then use Highlight Flesh sparingly on the sharpest points. Once the flesh is fully cured, apply Reddish Black heavily thinned as a transparent glaze to the cheeks, nose tip, ears, and knuckles. Build this up in multiple thin passes rather than one heavy coat — you want a subtle warmth, not a visible red layer.
