DSPIAE MK Water-Based Acrylic Markers – Eco-Friendly Paint for Gunpla Models

  • Soft Sponge Tip – Specially formulated absorbent tip lays paint in a thin even film, with the side of the tip covering wider areas and the corner handling fine detail.
  • Water-Based Eco Formula – Low-odor acrylic paint with no harsh solvents, suitable for indoor desk use without ventilation gear or a respirator.
  • Alcohol-Removable Mistakes – Errors on bare plastic wipe off cleanly with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, preserving the underlying surface for a second attempt.
  • Three-Range Color System – Standard mecha colors (MK), metallic finishes (MKM), and bright fluorescents (MKF), all sharing the same chemistry and tip type for cross-range layering.

📝 Product Description

The DSPIAE MK series is a 25-color marker line built specifically for scale model detailing — Gunpla, Warhammer 40K, scale armor, resin figures, mech kits, and any plastic model where clean color application matters. Three sub-ranges cover the practical color needs of the hobby: standard mecha colors, metallic shades, and bright fluorescents.

What sets the line apart in the marker category is forgiveness. The acrylic chemistry stays workable on the surface long enough to correct mistakes, and the price-per-marker stays low enough that building a complete color library is realistic for a hobbyist budget. Beginners reach for these because mistakes don't ruin a kit; experienced builders keep them on the bench because the workflow is faster than thinning and brushing acrylics for small panel work.

🎨 Color Range Reference

MK Standard Colors (12): MK-01 Black, MK-02 White, MK-03 Grey, MK-04 Red, MK-05 Blue, MK-06 Green, MK-07 Yellow, MK-08 Mecha Grey, MK-09 Purple, MK-10 Pink, MK-11 Sky Blue, MK-12 Armored Green.

MKM Metallic Colors (8): MKM-01 Metallic Black, MKM-02 Metallic Silver, MKM-03 Metallic Red, MKM-04 Metallic Blue, MKM-05 Metallic Green, MKM-06 Metallic Gold, MKM-07 Metallic Grey, MKM-08 Metallic Purple. Note: MKM-06 reads warmer and more orange-toned than a traditional yellow gold — closer to brass or antique gold.

MKF Fluorescent Colors (5): MKF-01 Fluorescent Green, MKF-02 Fluorescent Red, MKF-03 Fluorescent Yellow, MKF-06 Fluorescent Orange, MKF-07 Fluorescent Pink. Fluorescent shades appear most vivid over a white or light grey base.

💡 How to Use

Before first use, shake the marker firmly and press the tip down against scrap paper to release trapped air and prime the paint flow. Lightly sand the target panel with 1000-grit sandpaper or apply a primer coat first — bare Bandai plastic is glossy and paint adheres better to a slightly roughened surface. Apply paint in long even strokes in one direction; cross-stroking can lift partially dried paint and leave streaks.

Cap the marker immediately after each use to prevent the sponge from drying out. If a tip dries between sessions, dip it briefly in isopropyl alcohol to rewet — the sponge revives readily as long as paint reservoir remains. For mistake correction, dampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and rub gently. Once the build is complete, seal the part with a matte, satin, or gloss top coat to protect against handling wear — without sealing, MK paint stays alcohol-soluble even after curing.
