RuneScape Reignited is a new character type launching December 2, 2026. Existing Veteran characters remain. The fresh-start decision is about how you want to begin and who you want to play with.

A clean slate can be inviting, especially when an old account comes with a to-do list you no longer remember writing. But “starting together” deserves a more specific conversation than agreeing to reinstall.

One world does not mean one economy

Jagex says Reignited and Veteran characters can share worlds, chat and join clans or homesteads together. Trading, the Grand Exchange and boss instances are separated by character type. Characters cannot switch between the two types.

That distinction matters most for a mixed group. Being able to meet up is different from being able to trade supplies or tackle a boss instance together. Before anyone chooses, compare the activities you actually want to share.

  • Starting a new group adventure? Agree on character type before creating characters.
  • Returning to established friends? Ask whether they want to restart or continue their current progress.
  • Interested mainly in a fresh market? Decide whether gathering and building up from the beginning sounds enjoyable in its own right.

Check the membership decision too

Reignited requires its own membership. Jagex announces an initial ten-day period of members-world access for Reignited characters. Its October 3 announcement and FAQ explain the character rules and launch offer.

Put that ongoing cost beside the time you can comfortably spend playing. A launch offer can help you explore, but it should not make the longer-term decision for you. Choose a few things you want to try, then assess whether the routine suits your week.

Our take: choose the restart you want to keep playing

A fresh economy is interesting because it asks a different question from an established account: what would you enjoy building now? Let that answer shape your first few sessions.

For some players, the fun will be making progress alongside friends. For others, revisiting a familiar character is the whole point. Choose the adventure that fits your evenings and the company you enjoy.

Before launch, make a small group plan: character type, first shared activity and next check-in. Leave ambitious schedules until you know the group enjoys being back.
