WoW Forever arrives November 4, 2026, with access included in a World of Warcraft subscription or game time. The optional upgrade packs add extras for players who want them.

That is a useful place to start if the announcement has you considering a return. The first decision is whether you want another adventure in Azeroth. Shopping for extras can come later.

What is this version of WoW?

Blizzard presents Forever as a continuing home alongside modern and Classic WoW, returning to the original continents with progression to level 60.

For a returning group, the practical question is simple: which experience does everyone actually want to play? Agree on that before comparing editions. Start with the people you want to play with and the adventures you would enjoy sharing.

Separate entry from extras

The optional Skyborne Heroic Pack includes the Skyborne race and starting experience, name reservation and cosmetic extras. The Epic Pack adds beta access, 30 days of game time starting at launch and more extras. The Forever Collection also bundles Warcraft III content. See the full Blizzard announcement and edition details for the exact contents.

  • Coming back mainly for friends? First settle your shared version and a realistic evening to play.
  • Curious but undecided? Write down what you want from the first few sessions. Exploring, grouping and long-term progression are different commitments.
  • Considering an upgrade? Name the specific extra you want. Compare the packs around the features you expect to enjoy.

Game time inside a bundle only has value to you if you expect to use it. Likewise, early access to a test environment is a different purchase motive from wanting to play the finished launch. Keep those two wants separate in your budget.

Our take: plan the return before buying the celebration

The appealing possibility is a familiar world becoming somewhere your group spends time again.

Pick a modest first-session goal and leave room to explore. A relaxed evening with friends is a good way to begin.
