A small pause you do not have to perfect

A comfortable seat, an unforced breath, and a little room in the day.

Get comfortable and let your breathing stay gentle. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth if comfortable, without forcing depth or holding your breath. A count can help, but it is optional.

Make it comfortable first

The NHS suggests a supported position and loosening clothes that restrict breathing. You can sit, stand or lie down. Let the breath move as deeply as is comfortable, without forcing it.

If counting helps, count gently as you breathe in and out. Do not turn the count into a target you must reach. The NHS guide suggests continuing for at least five minutes when comfortable.

Keep the promise small

Stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable; return to normal breathing. Seek medical advice for unexplained or concerning breathing symptoms.

We would keep gentle everyday practices in this category, while giving exercise programs, supplements and condition-specific advice their own evidence-led destination and appropriate professional review.
