AK Interactive 3GEN AIR Series – Aircraft Acrylic Model Paint in 17ml Bottles

  • 120-Color Range for Aircraft Scale Modeling – The AIR Series is AK Interactive's dedicated color system for aircraft modelers, covering WWI through modern jet-era subjects. Includes the complete Luftwaffe RLM color system, RAF British Standard BS381C codes, US ANA/FS Federal Standard shades, Imperial Japanese Navy and Army palettes, and Soviet/Russian AMT-series colors.
  • Complete Luftwaffe RLM System – Every major RLM code used on German WWII aircraft: RLM 02 (both 1938 and 1941 versions), RLM 04, 61-66, 70-83, with period-accurate versions of RLM 65, 66, 76, 78, 79, and 81 to match the actual in-service evolution from early-war Bf 109E through late-war jet aircraft like the Me 262.
  • RAF BS381C and US Federal Standard Shades – Authentic British BS381C codes (637, 640, 638, 636, 627, 626, 629, 389) for RAF Dark Green, Ocean Grey, Medium Sea Grey, PRU Blue, and the full camouflage/reconnaissance palette, plus US aircraft FS codes including FS 16440 Light Gull Grey, FS 17875 Insignia White, FS 35109 Aggressor Blue, FS 36176 F-15 Dark Grey (Mod Eagle), FS 36375 Light Ghost Grey, and FS 36622 Camouflage Grey.
  • Matte Finish, Dropper-Bottle Format – Each 17ml bottle is the same 3rd Generation acrylic chemistry used across AK's 3GEN line: high pigment density, water-based, matte drying surface, compatible with brush or airbrush application when thinned with AK11500 Acrylic Thinner. Not sold by AK as an "airbrush-only" range — the AIR in AIR Series refers to aircraft subject matter, not spray-only application.

📝 Product Description

Aircraft modeling has unique color demands that armor and figure ranges don't fully address. A Bf 109G needs RLM 74/75/76 — not a generic "dark grey/light grey/light blue" approximation. A Spitfire Mk.V in European theatre needs RAF Dark Green and Dark Earth at specific BS381C shades. An F-15 Eagle needs FS 36176 Mod Eagle grey, not a substitute. The AK Interactive 3GEN AIR Series is a 120-color range developed specifically for these identification-code-driven aircraft projects.

The range spans a century of aviation subjects. WWI colors cover German (Fokker-era) and Allied (PC10 Late, PC12) camouflage. The Luftwaffe block covers the complete RLM system from the 1938 Farbtontafel through late-war RLM 81/82/83 replacements for RLM 70/71. RAF colors follow the British Standard BS381C reference used throughout the RAF camouflage system. US Navy and Air Force colors use the ANA (Army-Navy Aeronautical) and FS (Federal Standard 595) systems. Imperial Japanese Navy and Imperial Japanese Army colors use period-correct romanized Japanese designations (J3, D1, D2, Q1, M3, Hairyokushoku, Midori iro). Soviet colors use the historical AE/AII/AMT designations plus modern MiG-era greys.

The 17ml dropper bottle is AK's standard 3rd Generation format — identical chemistry to the General Series and AFV Series 3GEN paints. The AIR Series is the aircraft-subject subset of colors rather than a separate product line with different chemistry. Aircraft modelers who already use 3GEN paints can thin, apply, varnish, and weather AIR Series colors using the same tools, ratios, and auxiliary products they use elsewhere in the AK ecosystem.

💡 How to Use

Shake the dropper bottle thoroughly before each use to redisperse settled pigment. For airbrush application, thin with AK11500 Acrylic Thinner at a 1:1 starting ratio, shifting to 2:1 for fine panel-line preshading or camouflage mottling at lower air pressure. For brush application, apply directly from the bottle in thin even strokes, building color in multiple light layers rather than one heavy coat. The matte drying surface accepts washes, filters, pigments, and weathering effects cleanly — apply AK weathering products over the cured base coat without an intermediate varnish layer. For decal preparation, apply a 3G Gloss Varnish layer before decal placement, seal with another gloss layer before panel-line wash, then finish with 3G Matt Varnish for an authentic aircraft sheen. Clean brushes with water; clean the airbrush with AK11505 Perfect Cleaner. Allow paint to cure fully before masking for multi-color camouflage patterns.
