AK Interactive Precision Paneliner – Enamel Panel Line Wash With Built-In Brush for Scale Models, Gunpla, and Armor

  • Flows by Capillary Action, Not by Flooding – Touch the precision brush tip to a panel line or recessed detail and the enamel formula wicks along the groove on its own. The product is formulated to travel through fine lines without spreading onto the surrounding flat surface — the opposite of how thinned acrylic washes behave, which pool and stain broad areas.
  • Built-In Precision Brush in the Cap – The cap contains a long-fibered, pointed brush designed to hold a large paint load in fewer fibers. One dip into the bottle carries enough product to trace a full panel line in a single pass without reloading. The narrow tip keeps the application point small enough to target individual rivet rows and hinge lines.
  • Seven Colors Matched to Common Model Subjects – Light Grey for white and light camouflage surfaces. Black for maximum contrast and sci-fi subjects. Sepia for desert and sand-toned vehicles. Dark Brown for WWII military and steel surfaces. Fresh Rust and Dark Rust for corroded metal and weathered industrial detail. Raw Umber Greenish for olive drab and green camouflage schemes.
  • Clean Up Excess With White Spirit – Mistakes and overflow are removed with a cotton swab dampened in enamel thinner or white spirit. Because this is an enamel product applied over cured acrylic or lacquer paint, the cleanup solvent does not disturb the base coat underneath. This is the standard panel lining workflow used in scale modeling.

📝 Product Description

Panel lines, rivet rows, hinge details, and structural seams exist on every scale model kit — aircraft fuselages, tank hulls, car bodies, Gunpla armor panels, ship decks. After painting, these recessed details disappear under the base coat. Panel lining brings them back by filling those recesses with a darker tone that creates the appearance of shadow and depth. The AK Interactive Precision Paneliner is an enamel-based product purpose-built for this job. Its formulation has lower surface tension than acrylic washes, which means the product actively wicks into grooves and stays there instead of creeping across flat surfaces. You place the brush tip at the start of a line, and capillary action pulls the product along the detail for you.

The choice of color depends on the base coat you are lining over. The rule is simple: the paneliner should be darker than the surface but not so dark that the contrast looks unnatural. Light Grey over white or light grey surfaces. Black where you want hard, graphic contrast — common on Gunpla, sci-fi kits, and comic-style builds. Sepia and Dark Brown over sand, tan, and earth-toned military vehicles. Fresh Rust and Dark Rust over bare metal, unpainted steel, and industrial subjects where corrosion is part of the story. Raw Umber Greenish over olive drab, forest green, and NATO camouflage schemes where a brown liner would look too warm. Apply over a semi-gloss or satin base coat for best capillary flow — very matte surfaces can resist the wicking action.

💡 How to Use

Ensure your painted surface is fully cured and has at least a semi-gloss or satin finish — a gloss or satin varnish coat over matte paint works if needed. Shake the bottle, unscrew the cap, and touch the loaded brush tip directly to the start of a panel line. The product will flow along the recessed detail on its own. Allow 10–20 minutes for the enamel to settle into the lines, then remove any excess that has spread onto flat surfaces using a clean cotton swab lightly dampened with white spirit or enamel thinner. Work one panel or section at a time rather than lining the entire model before cleanup — dried enamel is harder to remove cleanly. Do not use water for cleanup; enamel products require solvent. Store bottles upright with the cap tightly sealed.
