Shake, spray toward the back of the throat and wait about a minute before starting. Stay within the number of sprays printed on the bottle. Do not eat or drink while the throat feels numb, and stop use if irritation develops.

Can I just use a sore throat spray instead?
Doc Johnson says no, and they are right to. Drugstore throat sprays numb with phenol and menthol, which taste medicinal and are not meant for this. This one uses benzocaine and is flavored for a mouth that has other plans.
How long before it works?
About a minute. Spray toward the back of the throat, wait, and reapply within the label's limits if the effect fades. Spraying and starting immediately is the usual mistake.
