Zenana Boxer vs Dolphin Shorts: Cotton Lounge Picks Under $6
Compare Zenana’s straight-hem boxer and curved-hem dolphin shorts, with a practical coverage check and size-specific picks under $6.

Happibee Field Guide / Everyday Style / 4-minute read
Choose Zenana’s cotton boxer shorts for a simple, straight leg opening. Choose the dolphin shorts for a curved hem that rises at the sides and a contrast-trimmed, sporty look. Both are short cotton-blend lounge options, with Small at $4.95 and Medium or Large at $5.95.
A favorite oversized tee does not need an expensive matching set. These two shorts give it a different finish: understated with the boxer, retro with the dolphin. The useful question is how much leg you like showing—and where the hem sits when you move.
Same cotton blend, different outline

The boxer
A smooth waistband and straight hem keep the shape simple. This is a short knit boxer style, rather than the longer, loose woven boxer you might picture from the name.

The dolphin
The rounded hem dips at the front and back, then curves higher at each side. White trim on the black pair makes that shape stand out. Pick this cut when you like the look of a classic track short for everyday lounging.
Both use 95% cotton and 5% spandex. If you are choosing between these two, the fiber percentages will not settle it: focus on the waistband, leg opening and outline you prefer with your usual tops.
| Detail | Boxer | Dolphin |
|---|---|---|
| Leg opening | Straighter hem | Rounded hem, higher at the sides |
| Black pair’s finish | Plain black | White contrast trim |
| Waistband appearance | Smooth | Gathered |
| Best starting point | A simple sleep-and-lounge outfit | A lounge outfit with a sporty outline |
Short inseams need a closer look
The boxer’s Small has an approximately 1.5-inch inseam; the dolphin has an approximately 1.75-inch inseam. That quarter-inch difference is small. It does not mean the dolphin covers more everywhere, because its sides curve upward.
Take a pair of shorts you already enjoy wearing and lay it flat. Measure along the inner leg seam from the crotch seam to the hem. Then look at the outer side: a similar inseam can still leave a very different amount of thigh exposed there.
Start with the boxer. Compare its short length with a favorite sleep short, rather than assuming “boxer” means a roomy, knee-skimming fit.
Start with the dolphin. The curved hem is the point of the design; choose it because you like that outline, rather than expecting the extra quarter inch of inseam to add side coverage.
For wearing beneath a dress, check coverage while sitting and walking as well as standing. These very short cuts may leave the area you wanted covered exposed. If you want a longer inner leg, the biker-shorts and leggings length guide is a more useful next stop.
The dolphin is unlined. Its track-inspired shape does not make it a substitute for running shorts with a built-in brief or other features you specifically need for exercise.
Pick the size first, then the color
Start with the size you need. The $4.95 price applies to Small; Medium and Large are $5.95 in both styles. Here are available options to compare without sorting through every color.
| Size | Boxer | Dolphin |
|---|---|---|
| Small | Black · $4.95 | Black · $4.95 |
| Medium | Black · $5.95 | Black · $5.95 |
| Large | Black · $5.95 | Heather Grey · $5.95 |

If you are buying a small lounge gift, use the recipient’s preferred short length and known size as your starting point. A straight-hem pair and a curved-hem pair can suit quite different tastes, even when the fabric is the same.
