LEGO Hope Assembles: Plan Your Build Before Counting Bricks

Choose a character, vehicle or scene for LEGO Ideas’ Star Wars and Marvel Comics challenge, then plan the piece count, submission images and November 12 deadline.

A good crossover build should make its idea clear at a glance. LEGO Ideas’ Hope Assembles challenge offers three ways to try it: a character, a vehicle or a scene combining Star Wars: A New Hope with Marvel Comics.

Before sorting every brick you own, pick the format that best suits your idea. Each category calls for an original build using 400–3,000 pieces.

Choose what the viewer should notice first

  • Character Fusion: start with a recognizable silhouette, then decide how the second universe changes its shape or details.
  • Vehicle Fusion: choose a clear overall form and work out which features carry the crossover. A consistent visual idea will be easier to read than lots of unrelated additions.
  • Scene Fusion: choose one focal moment. Plan the footprint and viewing angle before spending pieces on scenery around it.

These are our planning suggestions. The official briefs define the eligible source material as A New Hope and Marvel Comics. Check that scope before committing to a favorite character or setting.

Plan the photographs with the build

Physical bricks and digital building tools are both allowed. The entry instructions request 4–10 images, at least 1080 × 720 pixels, showing the model’s angles and features. For physical builds, leave space to turn the model and photograph it against a clear, neutral background.

Our suggested shot list is an overall view, the opposite side, a close-up of the crossover detail and a view explaining the structure. Add more views when they reveal something useful. LEGO’s entry rules prohibit AI-generated art and copywriting; create your own submission images and description.

Leave time before the deadline

Submissions close November 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. UTC—4:00 a.m. in Chicago. LEGO recommends submitting two days early to allow for requested changes. Access to LEGO Ideas requires age 16 or older, a LEGO Account and an Ideas profile; review the eligibility terms on the campaign page.

Fan voting begins December 15, but votes alone do not determine which design becomes a set: the Review Board makes the final decision. Start with the character, vehicle or scene brief, then sketch the smallest version that communicates your idea.
