RuneScape’s Name Release: Make Your Shortlist Before November 5

Check the revised level requirements, convert the first batch time, and make a three-choice name list before changing your character’s identity.

A new character name can feel like a fresh start. Before RuneScape’s next name release, make a short list you would be happy to keep—and check whether your character can claim one.

Check the requirement for your game

Jagex’s November 3 announcement raises the eligibility threshold from the earlier 500 total: you need membership and at least 800 total levels in Old School RuneScape or 900 in RuneScape.

The first batch, names beginning with A, is targeted for Thursday, November 5 at 11 a.m. UTC—5 a.m. in Chicago. Further batches are planned for weekdays at that time. Don’t assume one letter per day; Jagex describes varying groups of letters, with numeric names in the final batches.

Make a three-choice name card

Write your first choice, a second choice with the same feel, and an alternative you like for a different reason. Read each aloud. Would friends recognise it in chat? Is it easy to explain without spelling it three times? Keep the list somewhere convenient before the batch you want opens.

Our suggestion: decide now whether you would rather keep your current name than take your third choice. That gives you a clear stopping point if the names you hoped for are unavailable.

Avoid an unnecessary extra change

A recent name change brings a 28-day cooldown; the announcement says a Bond can remove it. Your previous name is normally reserved for at least 35 days, potentially up to six months, but another change ends that reservation.

That makes a temporary placeholder a decision worth reconsidering. Put your last change date beside your shortlist, and check your account before committing to a new name. You can also leave a note reminding yourself to tell regular friends and clanmates after a successful change.

Jagex cannot confirm whether a particular name will appear in a batch. Treat your list as preferences, not reservations, and check the current announcement before setting an alarm.
