RS4 Revealed at RuneFest: A New RuneScape Begins in Ashenfall
Jagex’s new RuneScape MMO starts in Ashenfall. Watch the official RS4 teaser and see where this new adventure fits alongside Reignited and the games you already play.
A new RuneScape adventure is taking shape. Revealed at RuneFest, Jagex’s next MMO begins in Ashenfall—a place Dragonwilds players have already started exploring. The working title is RS4. Start with the teaser, then catch up on what the studio has confirmed.

Why Ashenfall is an interesting beginning
Jagex places the new adventure after the events of Dragonwilds and the destruction of Dragon Queen Kuldra. The studio’s ambition is to expand beyond Ashenfall over time, into familiar and new parts of Gielinor.
For us, the appeal is seeing what time does to a place. What has grown, what remains, and who now calls it home? That gives returning players something to recognize and newcomers a world to discover together.
RS4 and Reignited belong to different plans
RuneScape Reignited is the separate December return opportunity we covered earlier. If you’re organizing a comeback with friends, that guide covers the character and membership choices for that experience.
RS4 opens a longer conversation. Jagex says the existing games retain their own teams and roadmaps. Platforms, account arrangements, membership and detailed RS4 systems have yet to be announced.
What we’ll be watching for next
Jagex wants players involved early in development. We’re interested in how that invitation takes shape: what people can try, what feedback the studio asks for, and how those conversations influence the world.
