WoW Forever’s October 21 Stress Test: Plan the Session, Save the Name for Later

Updated October 18: Blizzard moved the stress test from October 19 to October 21.

Put one date in the group chat before anyone buys an upgrade: October 21. Blizzard is opening a free WoW Forever stress test, giving curious friends a shared occasion to log in. The useful preparation is agreeing on a region, getting the right client and keeping permanent character plans separate.

Choose your region’s start

Blizzard lists these regional starts. In North America, 2 p.m. Pacific is 4 p.m. Central and 5 p.m. Eastern.

Send the region and time zone together when inviting friends. Europe’s listed start is a different moment from North America’s; converting one row does not replace the others.

Get the temporary client ready

No subscription, game time, invitation or beta access is required. In Battle.net, select World of Warcraft, then choose World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test under In Development in the Game Version menu and install it. Blizzard also asks players to update the launcher and graphics drivers.

Our suggestion: handle the download before your agreed meeting time, then choose one simple shared goal for the session. Leave the rest of the evening flexible; Blizzard says the window can change.

Keep your favourite name for later

Test characters, names and guilds will be erased afterward. Early name reservation is a separate October 27–November 3 window for the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection; names are first come, first served.

Give your group two separate decisions: “Do we want to join Wednesday?” and “Does anyone want a particular upgrade extra?” A temporary gathering can answer the first without settling the second. For the broader purchase decision, read our WoW Forever subscription and upgrades explainer.
